Residents of Lewin House, in Aylesbury, have been able to enjoy a supermarket shopping experience within the comforts of the home, after owners decided new options were needed to make Christmas shopping for loved ones easier.

Partnering with the local Tesco Extra Broadfields, The Fremantle Trust home’s 70 residents were able to take the time they needed to choose gifts for friends and family, without the stress of having to visit the supermarket.

Resident Sue Seymour (pictured right) was one of the residents to enjoy the experience, saying: “It was such a relief not to have to battle the elements to do Christmas shopping for my friends and family. I’ve been so looking forward to it and I even picked up a few treats for myself.”

Tesco Community Manager at Broadfields Tesco in Aylesbury, Helen Wadden, commented: “It has been lovely for us to be able to help in this way and to bring enjoyment to the residents. Tesco has been working with Lewin House for the past year and today has definitely been a highlight for us. I’m really proud that Tesco can support our local community in this way.”

Leisure and lifestyle manager at the Fremantle Trust, Sue Faulkner, was delighted with how the day went, saying: “It can be difficult to take all the residents Christmas shopping, so this was an inspired way to bring the annual shopping experience directly to them. Everyone really enjoyed the day and residents took advantage of the opportunity to prepare for the festive season. We are very grateful to Tesco for helping us to make the event such a huge success.”

The Fremantle Trust operate a range of residential, nursing, day care and supported living services across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and North London, contributing to the care needs of older people and also adults with a learning disability.
