Personalisation of care is one of the key points of the Care Act 2014, due to be rolled out nationwide in April and so the charity have created the new position and employed Miss Richards to oversee personalised care.

Director of operations and development for the charity, Sarah Miller, said: “We’re delighted to announce Dominique’s appointment as our new Personalisation Officer. Walsingham has very high standards when it comes to our quality of support and we are continually looking at ways of improving how we work.

“We believe that everyone is different, with their own needs and aspirations, and we want to ensure that the support each individual receives is tailored to them.”

Miss Richards has experience working within the social care industry as a deputy manager and will work with some of the people who receive support from the charity to create a set of standards when providing personalised care.

Speaking about her recent appointment as personalisation officer, Miss Richards said: “I’m really looking forward to working with people supported by Walsingham to build upon its reputation and guarantee that everyone receives greater levels of person-centred support.”

Miss Richards will work with Walsingham’s participation and involvement groups to enable her to speak to people that the charity works with about their issues and pass any concerns back to the charity’s operations team.

Walsingham has been supporting people living with disabilities for more than 29 years, including those with learning disabilities, brain injuries and autism. The charity has a team of professional staff who can provide supported living care, residential care, respite and community support.
