One of the largest care home groups in the UK, HC-One has details of a £100 million investment programme to upgrade and renovate many of its homes. The work is a part of the group’s plans to improve the experience that residents have living in HC-One care homes.
HC-One plans to start the improvement work in April 2015, where the first 50 homes will benefit from an upgrade, expected to be completed by September 2015. The project is scheduled to take three years to complete and will see interiors and gardens improved throughout all homes in the HC-One group.
Chairman and acting chief executive, Dr Chai Patel, said: “This is a major and significant investment that will upgrade our homes to the next level, creating the best care experience in our sector.
“Thanks to the hard work and dedication of colleagues in our care homes across the country and the successful acquisition by Formation Capital, Safanad and Court Cavendish, we are now in a position to take the next important step in our journey on the road to delivering the kindest care.”
The renovation work will see HC-One collaborate with a number of health and social care designers to ensure that the interior design is established with relatives’ and residents’ interests at heart. HC-One will hold a number of consultations in preparation for the upgrades to ensure that residents and their relatives can voice their opinions on the work.
Renovation of the homes will use specific design features to increase the independence of residents living with dementia. Clients will benefit from being able to use the outdoor space surrounding the home throughout the year due to the introduction of covered areas and improved garden access, including patios, seating areas and raised beds.
The new interior style will be incorporated into the communal living and dining rooms and a number of individually themed rooms will be available, including hair and beauty salons, reminiscence, garden and games rooms.
HC-One have more than 200 care homes in the UK and work to ensure that staff can provide quality care to all residents and that all of their needs are met.
