Residents and care workers at seven Colten Care homes in Dorset have been raising money for Red Nose Day.
Activities included a Red Head day, Mad Hatters tea party, face painting and a talent show.
Staff at, Belmore Lodge in Lymington wore novelty red wigs, noses and decorated their faces for the day, whilst staff at Amberwood House, Ferndown hosted a talent show for residents to enjoy.
Speaking about the groups’ fundraising efforts, activities manager for Colten Care, Jo London said: “We don’t need much excuse to dress up but more importantly we are just delighted to get involved and support such a fantastic cause. It’s all about giving vulnerable and disadvantaged people the chance of a better future.”
At Colten Care’s home in Poole, Canford Chase residents were treated to a special one hour show from Tommy Cooper impersonator, Clive Greenaway.
Mr Greenaway was recently featured in the Guinness Book of Records for telling 26 jokes in a minute, beating the previous record of 21.
At Avon Cliff care home in Bournemouth, residents had the opportunity to attend a Mad Hatter’s tea party, wearing silly hats for the occasion.
Care workers at Avon Reach, Mudeford participated in a seven mile sponsored walk from Bournemouth pier whilst staff and residents at Aldbury care home, Poole and Newstone House, Sturminster Newton had their faces painted for the day as part of the charity’s ‘Make your face funny for money’ initiative.
Red Nose Day is held every two years to fundraise for disadvantaged people living in the UK and Africa with the last appeal raising more than £100,000 million.
The Colten Care group runs 19 homes in the Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire areas and has more than 30 years’ experience providing high quality nursing, respite, dementia and residential care to older people.
