A £6.2m dementia care home development, from Eothen Homes Ltd, will bring ground-breaking care to Wallsend, being the first of its kind in the region.
The provider has invested in the care home with a vision of raising the bar for specialist dementia care in the North East, as well as bringing 42 new jobs to the area once the 60-bed residential facility is complete.
Chief executive, Jenny Hearl, chief executive, says: “This new dementia facility will break new ground in terms of its design, services and features. The layout and general provision has been developed in line with the latest research and thinking into dementia care and we are excited to be the first to bring this to the North East.”
Eothen Homes have worked with law firm Sintons on issues relating to construction, property and financial legal aspects, while the funding package was secured with the help of Barclays.
Lesley Telford, relationship director at Barclays, says: “Eothen is delivering further innovation for an exciting sector in the North East and the new facility will provide state of the art care for the local ageing population. The new funding from Barclays will not only enable the delivery of innovation but also help secure new job and career opportunities for the North East.”
Mark Dobbin, head of real estate at Sintons, also comments: “Eothen Homes has an enviable reputation for the quality of its facilities alongside a strong commitment to exceptional standards, and we are very pleased to be able to work alongside Barclays to support them in the addition of a new ground-breaking development to their portfolio.”
