Felicia Onwuagha, has said her goodbyes to residents and staff at Elm Bank Nursing Home and started retirement after spending a quarter of a century caring for residents in the care home.

In recognition of her service to the home, a party and celebratory cake was enjoyed by residents, care workers and other nurses who have been showing their appreciation of her work at the dementia care home.

Isabel Mantle, care home manager, said: “We will really miss Felicia as she really is one of a kind.

“She is someone who has done so much for the care home, her colleagues, our residents, and their families. She is an amazing lady and a very popular member of staff.

“Nothing was ever too much trouble for her and she constantly went over and above her duties. Although she is leaving I know Felicia is looking forward to spending more time with her family and she fully deserves to put her feet up. Although knowing her as I do, I can’t see her taking it easy. She will always be helping people.”

Ms Onwuagha, said: “It’s been a tremendous 25 years here at Elm Bank and I leave with so many happy memories. I will miss everyone terribly but will always pop in for a cup of tea to say hello to everyone when I am passing by.”

Ms Onwuagha joined the care home in Nottingham in 1990 and has remained working in the home to provide specialist dementia nursing care for many residents.

Elm Bank is owned by Redwood Healthcare Limited which runs 7 care homes in England, providing dementia care for older people with Alzheimer’s, care for those with learning disabilities and care for people living with physical disabilities associated with older age.
