Over twenty residents, nurses, and members of staff from both Aden House and Aden Mount Care Homes gathered to watch Ian Tetley go bald for charity.

Aden House gardener, Scott Boyd, took took on the job of clipping Mr Tetley's hair, in a different kind of landscaping than what he is usually accustomed to whilst tending Aden House’s gardens.

Aden House home manager, Lisa Boyd, said: “The community came together to support Ian and it is a great achievement to raise so much money for such a good cause – although it may take some time to get used to his new haircut!”

Mr Tetley has been an area manager at New Century Care since March 2014, and it was partly through working closely with residents living with dementia that motivated him to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Aden House is part of New Century Care, which provides expert care for elderly residents in a homely setting, and this includes specialised support for residents living with dementia.

Dementia currently affects 850,000 people in the UK, and this number is set to rise to one million by 2021. The Alzheimer’s Society is a leading dementia support and research charity in the UK, which provides practical guidance and information for people living with dementia, their families and carers.
