Celebrity dancer and television presenter Lionel Blair joined residents at Sunrise of Banstead, a Surrey based care home, for the senior living community’s tenth birthday.
The Bollywood-themed celebration brought residents, staff and their families together to mark a successful first decade for the senior living community.
Commenting on the memorable celebratory event, Suzanne Spurgin, the general manager at Sunrise of Banstead, said: “It was a wonderful afternoon and a fantastic way to celebrate Sunrise of Banstead’s tenth birthday. Having Lionel here was a real treat for everyone as many of our residents are big fans of his.”
Although the weather was more Banstead than Bangalore, the rain did not dampen the spirits of the guests as they arrived at the care home. Staff members were dressed in Bollywood attire to mark the occasion and welcomed each guest with an array of Indian snacks that were specially prepared by Sunrise’s chefs.
To mark the occasion Lionel Blair arrived onstage to provide an ‘all singing all dancing’ performance for the residents. He later proceeded to join Ms Spurgin to celebrate the success of the care home with a celebratory toast while being nominated to cut the specially made birthday cake.
In response to the ceremonious event, Ms Spurgin commented: “The highlight for me was hearing the family of one resident speak to guests so warmly about the care their relative receives here. Stories like this are what makes working at Sunrise so enjoyable.”
