Gowrie House Care Home in Kirkcaldy has recently been awarded two ROCK Awards for their team’s hard work and commitment. The nominations were made by relatives who have been overwhelmed at the standard of care at Gowrie.
The IONA Unit and Kelly Macdonald, Senior Nursing Care Assistant at Gowrie were presented their awards by Maureen Campbell, Regional Manager. The awards ceremony took place at the homes so the residents could share the celebrations with the team.
Sarah Hill, who nominated Kelly, said “it would take more than a few lines to do sum up my reasons for nominating, suffice to say she goes about her duties, which are many, with a smile on her face at all times. Kelly is so good with the residents; she seems to have the knack to say the right thing to reassure them. The team in IONA are all very good and Kelly leads by example. She does go the extra mile, like staying behind after her shift to make sure my husband was alright before leaving him. She’s dedicated to her job and worth her weight in gold”. A ROCK award is a nationwide internal honour that specifically highlights the impact a Four Season Health Care employee has made on the lives of people living in one of their care homes. Team members are nominated for an award by residents, their relatives or friends, who have witnessed or experienced staff members demonstrating excellent standards of care and kindness in their role.
Maureen Campbell said “it was a pleasure presenting these awards to such a wonderful team. They are so kind and pleasant; it is clear to see the reasons they were nominated. The team are the reason we are able to deliver the best possible care in any home”.
