Staff at Eden House in Bishop Auckland are celebrating this week after being rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission; the first care home in County Durham to achieve this status and only the twelfth in the UK!
Eden House on Cockton Hill Road in Bishop Auckland was rated outstanding in four out of the five inspection categories, giving them an overall grading of outstanding. With four out of five inspection categories rated outstanding, Eden House is one of the top 5 care homes in the country!
The purpose-built residential care home, operated by Helen McArdle Care, was given lots of positive feedback from Inspector Jim Lamb. He was particularly impressed with way that staff treated people with dignity, respect, kindness and compassion, the level of training provided in the dedicated Helen McArdle Care Training Academy and the innovative pureed food technique that the company has brought to the UK from Europe.
Helen McArdle, Chairman and Founder of Helen McArdle Care is delighted to see that the care and facilities provided at Eden House are outstanding. She said: “It is extremely difficult to achieve an outstanding CQC report; we work very hard to provide the highest quality of care and to be innovative in all that we do, so for that to be recognised by the Care Quality Commission is fantastic.
We couldn’t have achieved this excellent result without the hard work and dedication of every single member of staff and the support of residents, relatives and healthcare professionals. I am so proud of the whole team.”
Kelly Watt, Care Home Manager, is also proud of this latest news: “All of my team work so hard to ensure that we provide the very best care for those in our care. We are all thrilled that this has been recognised as outstanding and we will be sure to have a party with residents and their families to celebrate.”
