Man charged with suspected murder of two people living in sheltered housing

A 50-year-old man, Paul Mallin, has been charged with the suspected double murder of a man and woman living in sheltered accommodation in Ilford, Essex on 6 September 2015.

Emergency services attended the sheltered housing accommodation in Cecil Road, Ilford on the evening of 5 September 2015 to investigate reports of an assault.

Paramedics and police attempted to revive two people, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 80s, who both had knife wounds, but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Metropolitan Police said they knew the identities of the deceased and their next of kin have been informed.

Results of the post-mortem and identities of the victims have yet to be released.

Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and Mr Mallin will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates Court on 7 September 2015.
