When you visit a Care Circle home you will get the immediate impression that its homes are very good places to live. The company is proud to provide environments where people can receive comprehensive nursing care, can flourish and grow, can experience new things and enjoy all the comforts of a good hotel.

Care Circle Group’s beautiful Braefield Private Nursing Home is situated in between the villages of Connor and Kells, on the outskirts of Ballymena. The home boasts an intimate residential unit for 8 people, a purpose-built 50-bed care complex offering new levels of comfort and care and a specialist dementia facility set within a homely environment. The home offers a “person centred” approach to care that meets individual needs in a bright, modern and safe environment.

The Group strive to provide residents with opportunities to enjoy their local community and to invite the outside world in, Braefield Summer Party being one such occasion.

On the morning of 25th July staff began the set up operation in earnest for the big summer fun day ahead. Stalls and pop-up shops sprang to life. Sugary creations had been fashioned by staff with sweets sourced from local suppliers Supervalu and Poundland in readiness for display on the kids sweetie stall. Ice cream, candy floss and popcorn were also on the go to appeal to the sweet toothed, young and old alike. A cupcake stall, a Scentsy stall and a Hansam craft stall were all to be found for those in need of a little retail therapy on the day, after all the home like to provide a wide range of activities for all to enjoy!

The theme for the day was Hawaiian, the home meets Honolulu if you like, the crowd were fortunate enough to have the sun shine! Residents, staff and visitors donned Hawaiian garlands and all enjoyed the colourful theme.

Braefield Private Nursing Home also welcomed three Irish Dancers from the Seven Towers School of Irish Dancing, Ballymena. Spectators took pleasure in the wonderful performance.

Musical entertainment throughout the day was provided by Barney’s Star Trax Disco Road Show. DJ Barney played all genres of music for the residents to enjoy and to reminisce. Music games allowed an opportunity for all to get together and join in the fun guessing the year of the song.

The bouncy castle was fully utilised by young and young at heart, kindly supplied by staff member Helen Currie, Care Assistant. A colouring-in and craft corner were also provided for all the children to have fun with. Adults even found the colouring-in to be therapeutic and a good stress reliever. Reports of this new adult colouring-in phenomenon have even been talked about on Cool FM!

Braefield were privileged to have local MLA, Robin Swann attend the event with his family on the day. Robin also kindly put event organizers in touch with Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club who later in the day paid a visit to the home with their vintage car display. One resident was heard to have commented “This takes me back to my courting days!” whilst seated in one of the retro vehicles, much to the dismay of their spouse.

Head chef, Emma Johnston was in charge of the barbeque, where meaty treats (courtesy of Henderson Food Service) and baps loaded with carbohydrates were on offer. Dieters were advised to steer clear and stick to the salads!

The summer fun day was a celebrated success. Braefield Private Nursing Home and Care Circle Group would like to thank the following people and companies for their part in making the summer party so enjoyable; Robin Swann, MLA, DJ Barney Barnes of Star Trax Disco Road Show, Hansam Shop of Kells, Supervalu, Poundland, Henderson Food Service, Seven Towers School of Irish Dancing and Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club.
