Painting finger nails may not be a skill regularly practised by football players at Middlesbrough FC but that’s just what volunteers from the club's charitable scheme did for residents at Mandale House Care Home.
Members of the Middlesbrough Football Club’s national citizenship scheme rolled up their sleeves to play bingo to the delight of residents at the Stockton-on-Tees care home.
Some might say tackling an opponent on a muddy field would be a tough challenge for the eager young teenagers but they had not played dominoes with those at Mandale House before.
A sing along was kicked off by one of the teenagers, who were all aged 16 to 17, and staff were cheered by the sight of others cleaning outside the care home.
Sarah Robinson, activity coordinator at Mandale House Care Home, said: “The young people of the Middlesbrough FC National Citizenship Scheme should be immensely proud of their voluntary work and we can’t thank them enough for coming to see us."
Mandale House Care Home is part of the Hill Care Group, which operates care homes across the North East.
The activity coordinator added: “Engaging with young people has an incredibly positive effect on our residents. It can lift them for days.”
