The Care Quality Commission has rated two Shropshire homes as delivering a ‘Good’ standard of care.

New Fairholme in Oswestry and Crowmoor House in Shrewsbury, which are both run by not-for-profit firm Coverage Care, received unannounced visits in February.

New Fairholme, in Shrewsbury Road, caters for 88 people with dementia and physical needs. Crowmoor House in Monkmoor is home to up to 57 people with dementia, mental health issues or learning disabilities.

The performance of each home was assessed against a national framework that measures service performance. Each was judged as good in the five key areas that state whether homes are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

Coverage Care Services’ operations director Debbie Price welcomed the reports as good news for New Fairholme and Crowmoor.

She said: “Both homes received a very positive inspection report from all perspectives. There are always lessons to learn and improvements that can be made and this is something we continuously strive for.

“But these unannounced visits have demonstrated that our service users are well cared for and happy and that our staff have the skills they need and the ongoing support to continue in their development.

“We are delighted with the CQC reports and will continue working towards providing the best possible standard of care for all our residents.”

Coverage Care Services is Shropshire's largest independent care provider, operating 14 residential and nursing homes around the county.
