Journalist, broadcaster and television presenter, Fiona Phillips, officially opened Anchor’s new Bishopstoke Park Village in Hampshire last week.
Best known for her 12 years on the GMTV sofa, Ms Phillips enjoyed a tour of the luxurious retirement apartments and village facilities, which include: Orchard Gardens - a 48-bed care home, a bistro, gym, spa, swimming pool, salon, library, café and shop.
Speaking at the event, Ms Phillips, said: “From meeting the Anchor team and taking a tour of the village today, I can already tell that residents will be very happy here at Bishopstoke Park.
“The combination of luxurious on-site facilities, thoughtful design and the peace of mind that support is always on hand should you need it creates a wonderfully calm atmosphere. I eagerly await my own retirement.”
After the tour, Ms Phillips joined the Mayor of Eastleigh, Jane Walsh, Anchor’s chief executive Jane Ashcroft, and over 200 guests from the village and the local community to raise a glass to Bishopstoke Park and cut the cake to declare the village officially open.
Commenting on the new care facilities, Ms Ashcroft said: “We are very pleased to be opening this luxurious retirement development in Hampshire and we look forward to becoming part of the local community. We are due to launch another village in Yateley in June, which I hope will be equally successful.
“With over 45 years of experience, Anchor prides itself on giving older people a choice of great places to live, and Bishopstoke Park certainly embodies that ethos.”
The development is part of Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of housing and care to older people.
