Health+Care Show: 'It's more important than ever for care providers to share best practice'

Care home providers have been hit by social care funding cuts, the national living wage and tougher CQC inspections. This is why it is more important than ever for people in the care sector to come together and look at how they can work collectively to share best practice and success stories.

Nearly 10,000 people are expected to attend the show which is the largest national integrated care conference for those working in health and social care.

The event will be held at the London ExCel centre, where there will be four shows over two days from 29-30 June. These comprise The Commissioning Show, Technology First, The Residential Care Show and The Home Care Show.

The Health+Care Show is for everyone who commissions and provides care in the UK. This is where you can learn about best practice and network with attendees which include commissioners, health and care providers, local authorities plus suppliers. The conference covers policy and strategy along with stimulating conference sessions.

'Leading event in the healthcare sector'

A spokeswoman for the Health+Care Show said: “Health+Care has not only grown in terms of scale but most importantly, it has developed in terms of influence which makes it the leading event of its kind in the healthcare calendar.

“Times are tough and therefore it’s more important than ever to come together and look at how we can work collectively to share best practice and success stories. Taking two days, one day or even just an afternoon at Health+Care will give you more insight and knowledge to help safeguard the wellbeing of the people you look after, than you would from desk research.

“Health+Care is the most important two days in the care calendar that allows the entire sector to experience second-to-none networking opportunities and attend industry led talks about how you can run your business better.”

There will be a whole range of interesting debates such as what integrated care actually means and whether the NHS can survive with social care on the brink of collapse.

Host of influential speakers

There will be a whole host of influential speakers including Heidi Alexander MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health, Ian Dodge, national director, commissioning strategy, NHS England, Dame Gill Morgan, chair of NHS Providers plus Martin Green, chief executive of Care England.

Other speakers to look out for are Samantha Jones, director of NHS England, Andrea Sutcliffe, chief inspector of adult social care at Care Quality Commission and Bridget Warr, chief executive of UKHCA (United Kingdom Homecare Association).

Avnish Goyal , managing director of Hallmark Care Homes and chair of Care England will talk about some of the challenges that his company and the sector face as a whole and some innovative ideas that Hallmark Care Homes have come up with to deal with the issue of recruitment, engagement and retention.

Andrea Sutcliffe, chief inspector for adult social care at Care Quality Commission will also be speaking at the show.

While Jon Chapman, director of Pinders will help you appraise your own care business and understand your strengths and weaknesses in a changing care market.

Sensory Zone

There is even a Sensory Zone at the show, a must-see for care professionals working with dementia patients and patients living with cognitive and physical impairments such as autism, acquired head injuries, strokes and the vision and/or hearing impaired.

The Sensory Zone shows how you can find out new ways of helping your patients through sensory cues. The Sensory Zone will give you new ideas and innovative examples of best practice on how to simulate memories in dementia and other mental health illnesses. These range from music therapy to aromatherapy and passive and active tactile stimulation. Free passes
