Michelle Bell has been appointed as the general manager of specialist care village, Belong Crewe. She takes over from Mel Saywell, who had led the team at Crewe since the village opened in 2010 and now moves to the role of Project Manager for Belong, responsible for leading the set-up of two new villages in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Didsbury. Michelle, who has 22 years’ experience in caring for older people, has joined Belong from her previous role as Neighbourhood Manager for Wulvern Housing, where she developed expertise in operations management, having previously opened and managed large scale housing developments. Michelle was eager to join the Belong team due to its unique household model and devoted staff members, who she believes are driven by providing the best possible care to customers. Her special interest is in supporting older people with dementia, and she has plans to increase Belong Crewe’s use of holistic activities. She is also working to further develop the village’s Experience Days, a bespoke day care service which caters for people with dementia. Speaking about Michelle’s role, Operations Director, Tracy Paine, said: “We are delighted to welcome Michelle to Belong Crewe and her strong track record in housing means she is ideally placed to lead Belong’s unique village model, which aims to provide excellence in both care and housing.” Michelle Bell added: “Older peoples’ care is where my heart is. I’m so pleased to be a part of Belong and working with a team of committed staff members who are keen to provide customers with a ‘home for life’. I’m really enjoying working here so far, it’s definitely busy but good.”
