A Wellburn Care sponsored music festival in York proved to be a success welcoming more than a thousand spectators and raising more than £3,000 for charity.
More than 1,500 visitors of all ages and backgrounds descended on Wellburn Care Homes’ Grimston Court for the Forever Young musical festival in York.
With the whole event sponsored by Wellburn Care, the event aimed to raise money and awareness for the charities Age UK and St Leonard’s Hospice.
Dozens of live music acts performed throughout the day in the main tent and there was lots of food, drink and craft stalls.
Wellburn's Ian Donaghy who organised the festival said: "The weather had us a little worried, but the spirit shown by everyone on the day, from visitors to helpers was unbelievable. The performers did us proud, and in turn, the number of people who turned up was amazing.
"The car park was full and the whole day was brilliant. With so many happy people going home in the evening, it's something we'll be doing again next year, for sure".
'Incredible performers'
The festival featured performances from Sam Holden, Heather Findlay, Beth McCarthy, Steve Cassidy and Jess Morgan-Steel, with guitarist Oliver McLaren travelling from London to take part in the festival.
The event saw a variety of acts perform in the acoustic tent and dance tent, as well as performances from York Orchard Theatre Group and Strictly Salsa.
Wellburn Care Home's managing director, Rachel Beckett added: "I'm truly proud of everyone who pulled together to create Forever Young. I'd like to thank Ian for organising the festival and all the incredible performers.
"Our own team of helpers was amazing throughout with their dedication in some pretty tricky weather conditions.
"For me, it was wonderful to see our residents embrace the festival and join in the fun. I'm already looking forward to next year's festival."
