Care homes join Mannequin challenge craze

Chelsea pensioners' success in staying still like statues in their Royal Hospital Chelsea home has led to other care homes getting in on the act, by posting videos of residents doing the Mannequin Challenge.

Move over Chelsea Pensioners.. and Hillary Clinton... say care home residents around the country, who have decided to strike a pose for the Mannequin challenge - the latest internet craze going viral.

The Mannequin challenge requires people to remain as motionless as...well...mannequins, while a video of them is recorded.

Not content with their usual programme of social activities, residents and staff from the Sydmar Lodge care home in Edgeware, opted to star in a video of them in a number of poses.

A forkful of food suspended in mid-air inches away from a resident’s mouth can be seen in the video and a silent chat between friends, while another man sits with a glass of orange juice mid-sip.

While avoiding the 'planking' trend and 'ice bucket challenge', Thornbank care home residents in Ipswich have also become obsessed by the MannequinChallenge.

Run by Greensleeves, the care home's video shows residents fighting back the urge to blink, while the camera is recording.

Another more adventurous female resident attempts the challenge standing up, while holding a mug of tea and a bowl of cereal.

Even a dog got in on the act posing in his canine coat bearing the words Pets in Therapy.
