The Easter Bunny paid an early visit to Dene Holm Care Home, where ladies inspired by Spring’s blooming flowers, donned colourful bonnets they'd made in time for a festive parade this Bank holiday weekend.
The artistic talents of residents at the care home in Northfleet were evident as the Easter bonnet-making competition got underway.
The amateur hat-makers got competitive using an array of different Easter-themed items to adorn their bonnets such as chicks, mini eggs, ribbon and Spring flowers.
Crafty ladies model creations in Easter Parade
With the bonnets finished, residents have decided to take part in an Easter Parade over the weekend to model their creations.
Chris Hutchinson, manager of the care home said: “We have some very artistic residents here at Dene Holm, whom always love to get involved with creative and inventive activities.
“One of our ladies remembered making Easter bonnets when she was younger with her families, so she had a lovely time reminiscing about her past.”
The winner of the bonnet competition will be announced during the Easter weekend.
The care home is run by the Abbeyfield Kent Society which offers residential care, extra care and homes with support for more than 300 people in the South East of England.
Watling's Easter bake-off sees men cook up cupcakes
Not to be outdone by the ladies’ hat making efforts, many male residents at Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme, also run by Abbeyfield Kent, cooked up a batch of Easter-themed cupcakes and hot cross buns.
Helen Goulding, manager of Watling Court said: “As well as making Easter bonnets, we’ve crafted decorations for the home and made our own hot cross buns.
"Over the Easter weekend there will be plenty going on too, as we’ll have our bonnet parade and famous egg hunt”.
