TV star Rowland Rivron deemed a Muswell Hill retirement living community full of 'a great bunch of people' at a fundraising fete.
The presenter, actor, writer and musician was guest of honour at The Paddock on Meadow Drive for its fundraiser, which was also an open day for the public to attend. The day, themed on Community Engagement, raised over £200 for the home with a raffle, tea, buffet and various stalls and entertainment.
The Paddock is part of MHA, the national charity providing accommodation, care and support services to over 17,000 older people nationwide.
Mr Rivron thanked staff and residents for his invitation and for welcoming him with a bouquet of flowers.
The Holiday and Radio Rivron presenter and former winner of Let’s Dance for Sport Relief said, “I really enjoyed the whole event. You have a great bunch of people at The Paddock.”
He added, “Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if there’s anything I can do for you.”
Haringey Councillor Kaushika Amin also attended on behalf of the Haringey Mayor.
Several local businesses supported the fundraiser, including Costa, Goldilocks’ Hair Salon, Gallalocks, Children’s Book Shop and Muswell Hill Book Shop. There was also support from Art for Art’s sake, Fagin’s Toy Ltd, The Bakers of Muswell Hill and Carluccio’s.
A spokesperson for the Methodist Tennis Club, which was also involved, told the Paddock: “You all made such great efforts to ensure it was a successful day.”
Paddock Manager Simona Machavova said, “It was a success – we raised £234 and brought residents and members of the community together. Residents had a wonderful time dancing, singing and playing games.”
