An award winning care home based in the heart of Northampton is among to top 1% of care homes in the UK.

Burlington Court, which is managed by Rochmills Group, providers of health care for the elderly, have announced that it has achieved an ‘outstanding' Care Quality Commission (CQC) report after an inspection that was carried out earlier in 2017.

"We are over the moon with the recent findings of CQC which is great news for our residents, great news for their families and great news for our staff." said Tej Sehmi, the Responsible Individual for Rochmills Group. "I am so proud of our team who work tirelessly and am very pleased that this has been recognised. We aim to provide the best care possible and will always continue to look to improve where we can"

Burlington Court on Roseholme Road, just outside of Northampton town centre, has been rated as ‘Outstanding' in three categories out of five in the report. The home was awarded ‘Outstanding' in three categories: ‘Caring', ‘Responsive' and ‘Well-led'.

This achievement builds on the previous inspection in November 2015 where an overall ‘outstanding' was awarded with two categories attaining outstanding on that inspection.

The report contains many encouraging comments and positive remarks from residents and their relatives, who were interviewed by CQC inspectors and which includes "People living at Burlington Court had an enhanced sense of well-being and quality of life because staff worked passionately to provide people with meaningful experiences" and "Staff were empowered to work creatively to develop positive therapeutic relationships with people"

Burlington Court, registered for 102 beds, now ranks amongst the top one percent of establishments in the Country. It was commented that the hardest objective after the November 2015 inspection was to retain the ‘Outstanding' rating.

The inspection took place on 21 and 22 February 2017 and was unannounced.

The inspectors carefully checked necessary documentation and were in attendance for two days. They spent their time carrying out observations and speaking with staff, residents and relatives. The report was released on 26 April 2017.

The full CQC report is available on the CQC website.

Rochmills Group has recently secured planning permission for the development of a new 80 bed care home as part of the St Edmunds development in Northampton. This will be a state of the art facility close to the town centre and will be a superb addition to the Rochmills offering, due to open its doors in late 2018.

Other awards won by the team at Burlington Court in recent years include the "The Care Innovator Award" at the Great British Care Awards for the East Midlands region in 2011.

"Best Dementia Care Manager" in 2012 and Regional finalist at the Great British Care Awards 2012. In 2013, Burlington Court became a "Member of the Research Ready Care Home Network" and was also awarded the "Gold Standards Framework for the provision of End of Life Care" in 2016.
