Carole Edmond, who used to be in charge of Bright Horizons nursery group, and is now managing director of The Regard Group, a care provider, is on the 2017 list of ‘100 Women to Watch’.

The list features outstanding female leaders from a broad range of backgrounds, including women who hold senior executive roles in FTSE 350 firms and other organizations.

Cranfield School of Management, which compiles the list, commended her achievements in the childcare sector and the disability care sector saying: “Carole is managing director of The Regard Group, the UK’s fourth largest private organization providing supported living. She has almost two decades’ experience in the childcare sector.

“After spearheading research for Bupa into the childcare market, Carole developed Bupa Childcare from a start-up position to become a top 10 operator within three years. After its spin off to Bright Horizons in 2009, she led Bright Horizons to become the leading nursery operator in the B2B and B2C markets in the UK and Ireland. During her time with Bright Horizons, Carole’s focus on safety, quality and learning outcomes saw the business develop awardwinning services, gaining sector recognition and leading to several successful M&As.”

Dr Patricia Pryce and Jacey Graham, both visiting fellows of Cranfield School of Management, said: “The 100 Women to Watch supplement was introduced in 2009 as part of the Cranfield Female FTSE Board Report and this is our 8th edition. Our aim with the supplement is to showcase the broad and deep female talent pool for ‘UK plc’ to draw on.”

Since Carole Edmond, who is author of a doctoral thesis on female attainment on how to navigate career challenges, joined the Regard Group at the beginning of 2017, she has been overseeing the integration of Adelphi and New Partnerships, which has brought 17 new services into the Regard group this year and is currently working on the acquisition of other operators. The Regard Group is the UK’s fourth biggest private provider of supported living and specialist residential services for people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and acquired brain injury
