carehome.co.uk reveals top care homes in the country

The leading care home reviews site, carehome.co.uk, has announced the winners of their Top 20 care home awards.

The award is based on reviews of the care home written by their residents, as well as their friends and relatives, with thousands of homes battling it out to make it into the Top 20 for each of the 12 regions.

Looking for a care home for a relative or a friend can be an arduous and time-consuming business as well as being very emotional due to it being a huge life change. carehome.co.uk launched their awards back in 2014, with the aim of making people’s search for a care home easier.

Davina Ludlow, chair of carehome.co.uk, said: “It is the residents and their families and friends who have first-hand experience of what a care home is like, which is why we use their reviews to find the best care homes in the UK.

“Their reviews reveal that many care homes are warm and sociable places, where residents can interact with others and take part in stimulating activities, looked after by staff who are caring and compassionate.”

In its annual awards, carehome.co.uk names the Top 20 care homes in 12 regions in the UK as well as the leading care home groups.

There are over 18,500 care homes in the UK and residents, relatives and friends rate the homes on their overall standard, their facilities, the quality of their care and support, cleanliness, whether residents are treated with dignity, the standard of food and drink, staff, activities, management, security and value for money.

carehome.co.uk recently teamed up with Google so people can quickly see a care home’s average review rating on Google’s search results. Highly rated care homes on Google can expect to get more traffic than those with no ratings due to the trust factor.

Des Kelly, who is chair of the Centre for Policy on Ageing, having spent 13 years prior to that at the helm of the National Care Forum, called it a “positive initiative” saying: “I think it's vital for the public to have a wide range of ways to get authoritative information on care services.”

The carehome.co.uk Top 20 Care Home Awards 2018 are based on over 75,000 reviews received from residents and their family and friends between July 2015 and January 2018.
