Staff and residents at Llys Hafren Bupa Care Home, on Severn Road, Welshpool are preparing to offer everyone a warm welcome and a taste of typical care home life at a fun-packed event which is being held to mark Care Home Open Day on Saturday April 21.
Care Home Open Day, a joint initiative by all the UK’s leading care providers, aims to showcase everything that’s good about care homes, showing what enjoyable and stimulating places they can be to both live and work in.
Llys Hafren Bupa Care Home is inviting families and the community to join them from 11 am to 3pm for a 1940s street party and celebration of the Queen's 92nd birthday, which falls on April 21. Entertainment from a singer and a buffet-style lunch, complete with a birthday cake for the Queen, will be on offer. There will also be a display of 1940s cars to help set the scene. Local Scout troops, Brownies and Cubs have been invited to help mark the occasion.
The day will also provide a great opportunity for those considering a career in the sector. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and guests will be able to see first-hand just how rewarding their work is, and explore the wide variety of career opportunities that are available.
Home manager at Llys Hafren Bupa Care Home, Beryl Wickstead, said: "This is a great way to show the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work that goes on at Llys Hafren. Some people still have misconceptions about care homes, so we are keen to dispel any myths and for our local community to come and have a look around, meet the staff and our residents and take part in the day.”
