Officials from the Chinese government have visited a care home in West London to understand more about how to design a care home.
Organised by the Department of International Trade, the delegation visited the Victoria Care Centre in West London to highlight world-leading care home design.
The nursing home accommodates the elderly and those with dementia, learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
Care home designer DWA Architects, which has worked on more than 400 care homes in the UK and internationally and has experience designing care settings in China, met with government officials to talk through the care home’s design.
Coco Kou, from the Department of International Trade’s Beijing office said: “The visit was informative and the Centre is the first one the delegation has ever visited in the UK.”
DWA Architects has been shortlisted to design senior care facilities in Foshan, Guangdon Province.
The firm’s other Chinese projects include an 80-bed specialist memory care facility in Shangcai, Henan Province, and a flagship 400-room care home project in Xingcheng City, Liaoning Province.
Ray Mortimer, from DWA Architects, said: “It was a great opportunity to show them a successful care home that we have delivered in the UK and enhance our links in China.
“It’s a country we are confident of doing more work in, which is very exciting given the massive scale of some of the care villages in China that we have already been involved in.”
