Sovereign Lodge care home in Eastbourne is proudly announcing its new home manager. Sam Kirwan joined Sovereign Lodge in August and is now responsible for the running of the home, which provides residential and nursing care for up to 64 people.

Sam, who lives in Brighton, had been working as a general manager in a care home for two years before joining Sovereign Lodge and has twenty years’ experience overall in the care industry.

She brings a wealth of knowledge to the role, having trained in diverse areas including mental health, rehabilitation and supporting people with learning difficulties. She is also a trained psychotherapist.

Sam hopes to build on the home’s dementia support provision, which helps the 90% of its residents who have a formal diagnosis of the condition.

Sam confirms, “I’m absolutely delighted to have joined the team at Sovereign Lodge. There is so much good work underway here and we have the potential to really enhance our position as a real centre of excellence with regards to dementia care.

“I want to build the confidence of our staff around complex dementia care, and offer alternative and innovative support to our residents, building on their quality of life.”
