Women in their nineties cheered at the sight of men dressed only in aprons at Milton Lodge retirement home in Colchester, serving a three-course meal with a side order of cheek.

Eleven female residents were offered prawn cocktail, roast chicken with all the trimmings and sticky toffee pudding for dessert.

The skimpily-clad men arrived at the care home after 89-year-old Joan Corp asked the activities co-ordinator for a young man.

“Whenever we ask Joan what wish she would like us to grant her, she always says ‘Give me a man’ ", the care home’s manager Trudi Snee explained.

“When other ladies started nodding in agreement, we discussed it with family members and contacted ‘Hunks in Trunks’ ".

The naked butler supplier 'Hunks in Trunks' was only too happy to oblige and the saucy care home meal proved so popular, even the female residents’ daughters and granddaughters turned up for a peek at the bare-bottomed waiters.

After dinner, the ladies were serenaded with love songs by a youthful hunk before another somewhat riskily asked the residents what they would like to do next.

“A couple of the ladies gave the men a smack on the bum”, said Ms Snee who spotted one resident was very determined about what she wanted to do next.

"Peggy had hold of one of the men’s apron strings and wouldn’t let go. He was trying his best to keep hold of his apron.”

“A resident said: ‘Ooh I’d love a massage’ and then they all wanted one.”

The women received shoulder massages from the semi-clad butlers. With cries of ‘Cor! Look at that!’ and ‘Oh yes! Thank you!’, the shouts and whoops of laughter could be heard coming from the dining room.

Dick (one of the women’s husbands) proved to be the sole male resident at the party after he asked staff if he could attend to check out the competition and see what all the fuss was about.

The eldest woman at the party, 99-year-old Doll Jenkins, has now asked for the men to return for her 100th birthday this February.

“Doll wanted the men’s telephone numbers”, said Ms Snee, who manages the care home on behalf of Sohal Healthcare.

“The ladies were not a quiet crowd. I’d never heard such laughter and excitement coming from the residents.

“A 88-year-old resident told me ‘I’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s amazing’. It’s not doing anyone harm. If it can brighten up their day, then why not?”

The care home manager told carehome.co.uk: "The male residents have since asked to have a dinner and we are currently looking into making it happen."
