Staff and residents celebrate CQC 'Good' at Astbury Mere Care Home!

Astbury Mere Care Home in Congleton have celebrated achieving a ‘Good’ rating from the Care Quality Commission.

Deemed to be ‘good’ in all 5 of the quality outcomes that the inspection covers, the home are thrilled that the dedication and hard work of the team has been recognised by the care regulator.

The Care Quality Commissions’ report observed ‘that Astbury Mere Care Home presented as a warm and comfortable environment in which to live,’ and went on to say, ‘We observed that staff were attentive to the needs of people living in the care home and that they engaged with people in a positive, respectful and dignified manner.”

Further comments from the regulators report mentioned the approach of the Home Manager, Emma Harding and said, ‘It was evident that the registered manager had good interpersonal skills and was warm, welcoming and friendly in her approach.”

Emma has been with Astbury Mere since it’s inception in 2010, and has worked as a Nurse, Deputy Manager and latterly, took on the responsibility of Home Manger. She said, ‘ I am passionate about Astbury Mere and our residents and have watched our team grow since the very beginning. The homes’ success relies on the team working together in the best interest of all of our residents and that is the culture I promote every day.’ She went on to praise her team and their hard work and dedication, ‘I’m very lucky to have such a strong team around me and we’re looking forward to celebrating this achievement together.’

When asked what they thought about the inspection report, Hilary May, daughter of one of Astbury Meres’ residents said, ‘This is a much deserved accolade, well done to all the staff who make Astbury Mere Care Home the lovely place it is.’
