Residents and guests at Chalfont Lodge Care Home in Chalfont St Peter enjoyed an afternoon of kicks and jabs with a visit from a local Martial Arts group.
FitRoots, a group of kickboxing and martial arts enthusiasts aged 26 to 31 stopped in at the home on 30th January 2019 to teach residents techniques that can help them manage their pain, energy levels, and awareness.
Residents participated in breathing exercises, pain relief movements, and even tried their hand at Boxing using the Martial Arts pads.
General Manager, Raj Boodhoo said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful day learning everything they could about various breathing and pain reliefe techniques. We do our best to provide a wide range of activities and entertainment at Chalfont Lodge as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”
One resident said “We had lots of fun trying all of the different boxing moves- my favourite was definatley working with the boxing pads.”
