South Wales Evening Post - carer of the year nomination

Paul Clement received the Highly Commended Award at this years South Wales Evening Post Community Awards.

52-year-old Paul Clement who works at the Plas Bryn Rhosyn Home in Neath, run by the Pobl Group, was nominated in the Carer Of The Year Category.

For the past 24 years Paul, from Skewen, has been a facilities assistant, with gardening and maintenance as his main duties.

But it is his willingness to go the extra mile which makes all the difference. Registered manager Stuart Davies said: “He is not only happy to go the extra mile but does so with a great big smile on his face, often volunteering to go out of his way without being asked.”

He makes a difference to people’s lives every single day, something which he regards as a privilege.” Paul runs a gardening club for the residents and encourages them to enter a gardening competition run by Pobl. He also helps to organise other social events at the home, including regular Elvis cabaret nights when he regularly performs as his hero.
