Somerset Care has announced that all of its 32 services have been given either a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ by care watchdog, the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Portcullis House celebrates Good CQC rating

Somerset Care has 27 care homes across the south of England, plus it runs home care services and 'Petals' services delivered by specialist learning disabilities and dementia care teams.

Sarah Hicks, director of operations, said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved 100 per cent compliance across all our services.

"Quality is paramount in all that we do within the Somerset Care Group; to have this reflected by CQC is an amazing feat.

"This achievement truly recognises the commitment our dedicated staff have to making a difference to the lives of the people we support.”

Portcullis House in Langport was the latest home to receive a ‘Good’ rating after being inspected in March 2019. Inspectors spoke with residents and observed staff and residents interacting.

The report stated: “People felt well treated and respected by staff. People told us ‘Staff are very kind to you’ and ‘It’s nice and homely. I feel at home here'."

“Staff respected people’s lifestyle choices and cared for people in a way that was non-judgmental.”
