A pupil at Falkland Primary School in Newbury has recently been announced as the winner of a competition to name the beautiful new Porthaven care home located on Monks Lane.

The title of ‘Falkland Grange’ was Courtney’s creation and she proudly received a certificate and a £50 voucher, alongside the runners-up, Hattie and Abi. She is pictured here at the front (left) with Hattie, Abi and the student leadership team. The school also received a prize cheque for £500 from Porthaven presented by Falkland Grange’s home manager, Erik Muller and client services manager, Sarah Jacka. Well done to Courtney who came up with the perfect name!

Falkland Grange’s show suites will be open to browse in the summer with the home due to open in autumn 2019. Every Falkland Grange resident will enjoy a large bedroom with an ensuite wetroom and there are some adjoining rooms, where couples may wish to live together while receiving care. Several large lounges within the home are the perfect spot for relaxing and socialising whilst there is also a variety of dining areas, a café, hairdressing salon and nail bar, cinema and even a private dining room where families can celebrate special occasions together.

What makes a Porthaven home so exceptional? Care is what Porthaven does best and as with all their homes, the team at Falkland Grange will be carefully hand-selected for their dedication, capability and compassion. The hardworking team will ensure they promote the core values of independence, dignity, privacy and respect to every individual resident in their care.

An award-winning programme of events and activities, in accordance with Porthaven’s leisure and wellness ethos, will include speakers, trips out and even a well-established gardening competition run throughout the homes. The lovely gardens will please the green-fingered residents or anyone wanting to exercise, simply entertain visitors or in the warmer months, take afternoon tea.
