Grace Jones, Britain's oldest person, has died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 112-years-old.
Having lived through 26 Prime Ministers and two world wars, the woman they called 'Amazing Grace' had attributed her long life to a nightly drop of whisky.
Her death at retirement property Pegasus Court in Broadway, Worcestershire on 7 June was confirmed by her daughter on 13 June.
Her daughter Deirdre McCarthy said her mother was fit and active until she died, She said: "Only last Wednesday we were playing carpet bowls.
"She got tired, as she would at her age, but she never grumbled and she was always active.
"She was her usual self last week.
"Everyone at the home has been upset. She was very popular, the leading lady.
"She lived a very fulfilling life. She did everything with style."
Grace Jones was born in Liverpool in 1906 and had many memories of World War One which she shared in a TV interview with the BBC.
She recalled the sadness of losing her brother and the start of the war and said people were "screaming, laughing and singing" when they knew World War One had ended.
In August 2018, Grace Jones claimed the title of Britain's oldest person after the death of fellow Brit Olive Boar at the age of 113.
The Oldest in Britain website has stated the title of the oldest person will be passed to 111-year-old Dorothy Payne, who lives in Sevenoaks, Kent.
