Residents at HC-One’s Greenways Court care home in Consett have been busy practising the ancient Chinese martial art of Tai Chi with the help of instructor, Sandra Mountjoy.
On Friday 16th August, a group of residents gathered for a special armchair-based exercise class followed by some Tai Chi, which focusses on breathing and gentle movement that relaxes the body and mind.
Residents are finding the Tai Chi to be very relaxing and promotes good physical and mental wellbeing. One resident, Betty Welford said: “I always enjoy the classes, so much so, that I look forward to the next one every time.”
Tina Ayton, home manager at Greenways Court said: “Light exercises classes and Tai Chi can make a real impact on the wellbeing of residents, it’s great to see everyone getting involved in the class and enjoying themselves.”
