There were cakes, cakes and more cakes and a special 'design-a-cake' competition, judged by Stray FM’s, Nick Hancock and won by Sadie Eccles (aged 8) of Ben Ryhdding Primary School.

Sadie visited the home together with her family to see her cake, which had been superbly translated from paper to reality by Emma McDonagh, as the home prepared to celebrate in style with a party for residents, relatives, staff and members of the local community.

“Ever since I won the competition I have been looking forward to seeing the cake, it’s so exciting and the person who made it is so clever - it’s amazing!” said Sadie.

The care home offers residential, nursing and dementia care from Springfield Healthcare and features beautifully designed rooms, as well as lovely communal areas for relaxing, socialising and dining, with superb views over the moors, the Wharfe Valley and its own stunning private gardens.

“It has been a real celebration," said Home Manager, Suzanne McPadden. "It was great to have Sadie and her family here and all our residents were excited to attend our party in our own pub, The Mayfield Arms.

"Our residents living real lives with opportunities to do things they would have done before they lived in a care home is my real passion. I’m so grateful to have such a fantastic team of caring people here to help me to make that a reality.”

Mayfield View benefits not only from a wonderful building with its own tea rooms, pub, gym, cinema and spa, but also from a dedicated and professional team of nurses and carers, as well as hospitality and housekeeping staff and not forgetting the fabulous wellbeing team.

Mayfield View is proud to be situated in the heart of the Ilkley and visitors are most welcome. The Teapot café and tearooms are open to the general public and if you’re interested in residential care for yourself or a loved one, you can pop in for a tour anytime, too.
