As local MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, Boris Johnson visited Canford Healthcare’s Parkfield House in Uxbridge and was snapped stroking a few feathery friends with less flamboyant hairstyles than himself.

The PM was checking out the HenPower scheme – which enables care home residents with dementia to look after hens.

The care home group Canford Healthcare welcomed Mr Johnson to meet staff and residents.

Canford Healthcare chief operating officer Laird Mackay said: “It was our great honour to host a visit by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

“The Prime Minister chatted with residents and staff and joined in our afternoon tea.

“As Mayor of London, Boris Johnson was instrumental in launching the Hen Power scheme in the capital. This project helps promote good health and well-being in older people.”

99-year-old residents Annie Walters and Maisie Smith had tea with the Prime Minister and spoke to him about turning 100 next year.

Parkfield House offers nursing, dementia and respite care for up to 44 residents. Last May, the Care Quality Commission rated the home as Good overall.

A few weeks ago, Mr Johnson was accused of being a bit of a chicken himself for failing to turn up for an appearance before senior MPs on the Commons Liaison Committee at the last minute.

As a result, he managed to dodge answering MPs questions about social care for the third time.
