A care home in Yapton has won an award from Shaw healthcare for achieving the highest score rating on the UK’s leading care home reviews site, carehome.co.uk.
Warmere Court, which cares for people with dementia and sensory impairments, was awarded the ‘carehome.co.uk Award’ at Shaw healthcare’s annual Shaw Star Awards for the second year running.
carehome.co.uk is a reviews site for care homes where residents, relatives and friends can rate the homes based on quality of care and support services, staff, catering, cleanliness, safety and value for money.
Warmere Court received a rating of 9.8 out of 10, narrowly beating Glebe House in Southbourne to receive the top rating of all of Shaw healthcare’s facilities across the UK. Davina Ludlow from carehome.co.uk presented Warmere Court with the award.
Mary Latter, manager of Warmere Court said: “Receiving such a high score on carehome.co.uk, as well as the Shaw Star Award, is testament to the hard work and dedication of every member of staff and to receive this award again second year running is just wonderful. I’m so proud of my team.
“At Warmere Court, we specialise in supporting elderly people living with dementia, enabling them to remain as independent as possible through activities and events in and away from the home. We promote person-centred as it is important that the care our residents receive is tailored to their own needs. This approach is something that our experienced staff are well versed in and provide every day, so I’m delighted to see the home being recognised in this way.”
Warmere Court was recognised alongside other award winners as more than 200 people gathered at The Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club in Birmingham for Shaw healthcare’s annual awards ceremony, which aims to celebrate the achievements of outstanding staff members from amongst the 4,000 plus care workers across Shaw’s 80 UK facilities.
Jeremy Nixey, chief executive of Shaw healthcare, said: “The Shaw Star Awards has become such an important fixture in the annual calendar. We are always delighted to be able to recognise the hard work of so many staff members in various roles and from across the Shaw healthcare family.
“A lot has changed in the care industry since we launched the Shaw Star Awards in 2008, but what remains is a dedicated and compassionate workforce that strives to improve the lives of each and every one of our service users.
“Picking winners is never easy and just goes to show the quality of staff in our ranks. The ceremony is a great opportunity to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all of our staff and recognise those who have gone above and beyond with these award wins.”
