Man stabbed in Essex care home on New Year's Eve

A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed inside an Essex care home.

Police and paramedics attended the scene of an incident in at a care home in Swan Lane, Wickford shortly after 1 pm on New Year's Eve following reports that a man had been injured.

The woman remains in police custody

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from stab wounds to his back.

The man who is in his 40s was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not considered to be life-changing.

A 68-year-old woman from Wickford was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm. The woman remains in police custody.
