Care provider launches care fees calculator

Care provider Agincare is helping people confused about care home fees by launching a care fees calculator.

It can seem an onerous and time-consuming task calculating your finances and working out your loved one’s weekly care costs. However Agincare Homes Holdings Ltd has now simplified the process by producing a free online care home cost calculator.

All you have to do is complete a simple two-minute online questionnaire about your or your family member’s care needs, and the calculator finds your nearest three Agincare care and nursing homes and gives you a guide to the weekly care costs.

The calculator asks simple questions about how much support you or your relative need to eat and drink, move around, take medication, and get washed and dressed. Each question comes with three ‘levels’ of support as possible answers and you choose the one that is most applicable to you.

Tim Buckley, chief operating officer of Agincare Homes Holdings said: “Often, when people start thinking about options for their own or a loved one’s care, they have no idea how much it might cost.

“So we created our quick and easy free online care home cost calculator to help. It gives people a much clearer picture of the weekly care cost at their three nearest Agincare care and nursing homes, so they can start planning for the future in an informed way.”

The calculator also includes questions about whether you or your loved-one are often confused and forgetful, and about how easy you or they find communication.

In addition it looks at how much bladder control you or they have, whether there are complex needs (such as using a catheter or needing end of life care), how much support is needed at night and how happy you or they are to accept support.

The answers you supply generate an indication of a tailored level of care and support. Agincare sends this result to you in an email, giving you an idea of the weekly cost at your nearest three care homes.

The care home cost calculator comes hot on the heels of the care provider’s live-in care cost calculator, which launched in August.
