A magical time at Imperial Charity’s Variety Show at Westbury Court

brighterkind’s Westbury Court Care Home is this year’s proud sponsors of the Imperial Charity’s New Year Variety Party.

The charity helps our local community by organising events and outings for people of all ages and the annual variety show is free to all local ‘vintage’ residents of Westbury and those with special needs.

Members of our team accompanied residents to the event at Paragon Hall Labour Club to join 200 members of our local community for an afternoon of fun-filled entertainment.

First to perform was Martin Smith who had us all laughing out loud with his hilarious asides as he played the accordion. Next up was the musical duo ‘Young at Heart’ who sang a host of old favourites from The Shadows to The Bluebells. Then came the wonderful country & western singer Vanessa who has supported the charity for many years and got us up dancing with numbers like ‘Jolene’ and ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’.

After tucking into a delicious buffet and chatting with friends it was time to take our seats again to enjoy the talents of Magician Peter Baffles. Team members Charlotte, Suzanne and Gareth were all called up on stage to assist him with his magic tricks and were at the mercy of Peter’s cheeky humour!

Magic Moments Club Coordinator Suzanne said, “We all had a wonderful time and it was great to spend the afternoon with friends in our local community. The variety show was such good fun and Westbury Court was delighted to sponsor the event.”

At Westbury Court, we believe in living life to the full. That’s why we’re passionate about creating vibrant, stimulating activities that will help our residents to love every day. We call them ‘Magic Moments’.

Every brighterkind home now has a Magic Moments Club which provides a vast range of activities and fun things to do that are open to all of our residents.

The idea behind Magic Moments is that just because someone moves into a care home doesn't mean that the things they love doing should suddenly stop – quite the contrary, we believe our residents should have the opportunity to love every day, by doing the things that they have always loved as well as trying new things along the way.
