This year’s Dementia Care and Nursing Home Expo promises to be educational and inspiring with a whole host of first class speakers talking on topics ranging from intergenerational care and care robots to the future of social care.

Martin Green, chief executive of Care England

The event at NEC Birmingham on 17-18 March will feature the leading figures in social care including Martin Green, chief executive of Care England and June Andrews who was the Professor of Dementia Studies at the Dementia Services Development Centre at the University of Stirling

Martin Green will be speaking about delivering outstanding integrated care for people living with dementia and Professor June Andrews will be discussing the ten interventions to reduce distressed behaviour in people with dementia.

There will also be an opportunity to hear from Kate Terroni, chief inspector of adult social care at the Care Quality Commission, who will be talking about the experiences of people receiving care.

In addition, Dr Zoe Wyrko from Channel 4’s ‘Old People’s Home for 4 Year olds’ will be covering the benefits of an intergenerational approach and Professor Graham Stokes from HC-One will be talking about living in harmony.

Those who would like to find out how to promote their care home in the media, will be able to attend a talk by Sue Learner, editor of carehome.co.uk, Jill Rennie, news editor of carehome.co.uk and Sam Cleere who manages carehome.co.uk's social media.

A spokewoman for the event said: "The Dementia, Care and Nursing Home Expo is the stand out event of the year for social care professionals. The 2020 show will see the co-location of the Dementia, Care & Nursing Home Expo alongside the Home Care Expo and the European Neuro Convention.

"The co-location of the shows allows for a focus on the integration of health and social care services - a topic which is highly coveted by industry leaders.

"This was done in order to work towards creating a sustainable social care model that also highlights the importance of care pathways within a clinical environment and in the community.”

Visitors to the event can also get an insight into what it is like to live with dementia by taking Training 2 CARE’s Virtual Dementia Tour. While care providers wanting advice and tips on inspections by the Care Quality Commission can visit their two-day inspector hub.
