A care home entertainer has managed to keep performing for residents under lockdown by setting up his guitar and amp in the garden, with one resident saying “it was such a lovely thing to do in these difficult times”.

Andrew John Hayes put on the ‘through the window’ session at Park House in Great Yarmouth.

Manager Sarah Pearce, said: “As we’re in lockdown and not accepting visitors, Park House in Great Yarmouth have come up with a way to beat the boredom – by hosting garden sessions for our residents.

“Andy and I discussed him using the garden and some amplification inside and microphones outside so residents could still see him, so we arranged for him to do just that.

“By pitching himself on the patio on the other side of the glass windows, complete with amp, microphone and guitar – our residents were able to have their regular entertainment from the safety of their armchairs without any risk of infection.”

Residents enjoyed the ‘through the window’ performance with John saying “It was lovely, The music always brings back memories, and I don’t have many of those left now” and Joyce adding: “It was such a lovely thing to do in these difficult times, I do prefer it when you can see him with no window though.”
