The retired policeman is living in lockdown in his Glasgow care home because of the coronavirus pandemic but the man has been busy boogieing away with his care workers.

Nimble is one word not often associated with a 102-year-old, but in Percy's case he certainly is a lively dancer with a sense of rhythm.

Care workers at Whitecraigs Care Home can be seen dancing with Percy every day as part of his daily exercise routine. The exercises ensure he doesn't "stop moving" and can "wiggle wiggle" as the song he dances to tells him.

The sight of him thrusting his hands in front of him with vigorous concentration as his hips sway from side to side has attracted the attention of a much younger audience on the social media platform TikTok.

Percy has 11 children, 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and staff have used the video to show his family how he is still having a good time during the lockdown.

Staff have been uploading videos of residents dancing on TikTok since the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Amanda Randou, activities co-ordinator at Whitecraigs care home, which is run by Renaissance Care, said: “The TikTok videos have been a great way to get the residents up and moving and they’ve loved taking part.

“We started filming them with the staff to keep everyone’s spirits high and performed for the residents, who found it hilarious.

"When we realised how much they were enjoying it, we thought we would get them involved and it’s been a lovely way to keep relatives connected."
