Rothsay Grange care home in Andover has taken a new approach to engage its residents living with dementia with a series of inventive photography workshops run by our very own activities team.
The interactive sessions have been specially developed for people with dementia. The activities have proved popular with Rothsay Grange residents and the workshops range of different materials, lighting including the use of vintage cameras to really capture our resident’s designs as well as learning all about the principles of keeping the subject focused without background or foreground clutter!
Jessica General Manager at the home, said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their photography sessions and bringing their still life ideas to life, all were very enthusiastic. We are always looking for fun and beneficial experiences for our residents and photography was a new avenue for us to explore. Today we have seen the enjoyment and positive engagement visual and photography can bring.”
Rothsay Grange provides dedicated dementia care in a Memory Lane Community. These communities are designed to take care of people experiencing a dementia and encourage residents to stay as active and independent as possible.
A resident who attended the workshop said: “I used to be a wedding photographer so it was great to get behind the camera again.”
