Colleagues at HC-One’s Tranent care home in East Lothian recently threw a 1960’s themed party for residents to enjoy a dance and a sing-along.
During the afternoon residents were treated to some ’60s inspired food and drink such as pork pies, radishes and gammon. The food was served by kitchen staff who were donned in 1960’s gear like big blue flared jeans and button-down shirts.
Later on, in the evening, residents and colleagues got dressed up together and enjoyed a 1960’s karaoke session. They sang classic songs from the ’60s and enjoyed even more food and some alcohol that was inspired by some popular 60’s drinks.
Tranent care home resident Moira Gladstone said: "What a brilliant afternoon. It's really lifted my spirits."
Themed evenings are really fun for residents. It helps them socialise, and it engages their creative side by dressing up and helps them reminisce about old times with other residents and colleagues.
