Many care homes currently have restrictions on visitors to keep residents safe from coronavirus, yet this makes it extremely hard for people trying to choose the right care home to live in.

carehome.co.uk, the UK’s leading care home reviews site, has launched Book a Tour to give people that invaluable experience of looking around a care home to see if it is suitable for them and their family.

The new innovation allows those looking for a care home to see the inside of the home and talk to the manager and staff by booking a Remote Tour via Zoom or WhatsApp or for those care homes in low risk areas you may be able to book an Onsite Tour.

So far over 2,000 care homes have already activated the tour on their profile on carehome.co.uk and product manager Dan Coleman says the new feature to help care homes adapt to life during the pandemic is proving to be very popular.

He said: “The feedback from care homes that have switched on the tours button is that they've created very warm enquiries. It separates care seekers who are ready for care now from those that are still in the early stages of looking for care.

“Care homes have reported that they pay special attention when these leads arrive in their carehome.co.uk control panel and like to contact them straight away because they are very likely to become paying residents.”

The functionality is very simple to turn on. Within a care home’s Profile section, there is an option called Tour availability.

Care homes can select which days tours are available and between which hours. The home can turn on Onsite tours, Remote tours or both.

The care seeker can input their preferred date and time and the care home lets them know if this is available.

“Our next stage with tours is to look to see how we can produce more of these enquiries. We also want to help care homes act quickly when tour bookings are received by adding more options for alerts,” added Mr Coleman.
