TV's Dr. Hilary Jones officially opens Dudley’s Newest Luxury Care Home

Sedgley Court residential and dementia care home, on Brick Kiln Way, is now open and welcoming new residents

Dudley’s newest care home, Sedgley Court, has been officially opened by ITV’s Dr. Hilary Jones during a ‘virtual’ ceremony on Facebook. To celebrate the launch of the luxurious home, future residents and their friends and families, as well as the local community, were invited to join the Sedgley Court team live to safely watch as Dr. Hilary announced the home as open and Home Manager, Kim Dean, cut the ribbon on his behalf.

Staff virtually welcomed Dr. Hilary, who gave a heart-warming speech, crediting social care teams and key workers for their commitment to their roles throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.

He said, ‘It is so nice to be invited to officially open Ideal Carehomes 22nd home. I have been told all about your newly recruited team and the training they have recently completed. I am sure everyone at the home will be really looking forward to this exciting time, I know you are all incredibly proud of your home and to begin looking after your first residents in the coming weeks’.

Dr Hilary, who has practised as a GP for over 40 years and has been the medical advisor on ITV morning shows since 1989 continued, ‘I know at Ideal Carehomes it is all about providing person-centred care and I think it is incredibly important to have people’s lifestyles at the heart of everything you do’.

He also said how much he is looking forward to visiting the home in the future to enjoy a G&T with the residents at the top floor Sky Bar!

Home Manager, Kim Dean, said, ‘I have been extremely excited to finally cut the ribbon and open our beautiful home – it was a pleasure to have Dr Hilary officially open Sedgley Court. Our team can’t wait to support our first residents and help them to live life to the full. It is certainly a strange time to be opening a care home, but I know there are people out there in the local community, perhaps those who are isolating alone over the next few weeks, who would benefit from living with likeminded people – and we are here and ready to help.’
