Kim’s Dementia Café, part of the Dementia Voices Network and also known as Kim’s Café, is a well-known local group in Denmead and Waterlooville. Kim’s Café, which provides essential support to those who are affected by dementia, has received £857 to put towards events they’ve planned for the group.

Local care home Denmead Grange, run by Barchester Healthcare, nominated the charity for the grant for the great work they provide to the community. Sharon Hare, General Manager at Denmead Grange Care Home knows that many Charities have struggled during the Corona Virus crisis and was keen to help Kim’s Dementia Café, knowing how important it is to the community.

Denmead Grange was lucky enough to be the winner of £857 from Barchester Healthcare’s Staff Lottery. From working closely with local organisations, Sharon was able to easily identify who would benefit most from such a donation and the whole team at Denmead Grange looks forward to seeing the good it will do for Kim’s Dementia Café.

Kim Badcock Lead Health and Wellbeing Coach in Dementia; Havant and Waterlooville Primary Care Network: “It is just amazing that during this difficult time Barchester Homes have managed to support local charities.

"Today is a great day to receive your email as I have emailed the church with a provisional date to open our café in Denmead and Waterlooville and am going to contact another community centre to open a third cafe across our patch. All the cafes provide fun and friendship as well as offering peer and professional support which is linked in with the GP practices.

"Your generous donation will provide a great reopening as well as helping us offer more support to more people living with dementia as well as raising its profile in the community and reducing the associated stigma. Please do thank everyone involved.”

Sharon Hare General Manager said: “This charity does a fantastic job on very little money, and they do so much to support people living with dementia in this area. We feel passionate about their cause. I’m thrilled that we have been able to gift this grant.”
