Five-year-old Amaya Thompson lost two teeth when her adult teeth start to grow through but instead of spending the tooth fairy money on herself, she used it to buy gifts for local care home residents.
The little girl wanted to deliver what she calls a “little bag of love” to residents at a care home near her home in Stevenage because she felt they had faced “hard times” during the pandemic and she thought they were “amazing”.
After leaving her teeth for the tooth fairy, Amaya soon got her wish and delivered Haribo sweets, Cadbury’s crème eggs, toiletries, little pots of jam, word searches and a letter for each resident at Woodlands View care home in Stevenage.
People living at the care home, run by HC-One, were overwhelmed by the five-year-old’s kindness.
Residents opened the bags and excitedly chatted about what they had received.
Some completed their word search first while others ate their sweets straight away.
Resident Christopher said: "That's so thoughtful, we must send her a thank you card.”
Fellow resident Terry said of the little girl's efforts: "That's so kind."
Deby O’Hare, manager at Woodlands View care home said: “What a lovely act of kindness from Amaya to put a big smile on our residents' faces.
"We are very thankful.”
